very bad advice

I called Baines and Ernst for advice on consolidating my debts into one monthly payment as I was moving abroad and it would be easier to keep on top of my debts this way. I was told I was eligible for an IVA and it turns out I was not. By this stage I had cancelled all my DDI as instructed and paid them over £300. I had a perfect record for never missing any payments and due to their advice I missed payments and was unable to make them as I did not have enough money in my accout because of what they had taken. They admitted the mistake and refunded my money but too late for me to make up the missed payments. I am currently reporting them to the FSA. I never even got an apology and their manager handled my call (when I was very upset) in a very unprofessional manner.

I started with 12K of debt when I first took out a B+E plan. I have been with them for four years now.To start off with they are great but as soon as the plan is up and running you get very little else. They do not give regular reviews. I have waited nearly two years for them to contact me to discuss my plan. Their main problem is keeping in touch with your creditors. Because they tend to move debts around unless B+E are informed they will carry on paying somebody who no longer owns the debt resulting in the balance staying the same instead of reducing. The other thing is when they ask you to make an increased payment they take some of it for themselves - your fee is a percentage of your monthly payment so the more you pay off the more B+E take from you in fees!!!

Terrible service

Since signing up with Bains & Earnst 3 months ago my creditors have not seen a penny of the £600 I have given them so far. Constant phone calls 3-4 per day telling me my information is correct even though I have sent them several copies of statments showing the account numbers etc are correct. No communication between depatments , advisors do not have a clue what they are talking about, rude staff and a poor approach to a very sensitive and stressful topic. Since joining Bains & Earnst my money problems have become considerably worse I have tried to leave there service but risk losing the £600 they are holding while they "obtain account numbers" . NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY unless you want the stress, phone calls and letters to triple over night.

Good Service?

My husband & I had debt of just under 15,000 and were struggling to pay over 450 per month, with only 1 income & 2 small children under 5. I found B&E on the internet & I filled in our details on their site. They phoned us straight away & a proffesional adviser spent an hour & half on the phone going through all our debt and options. They acted very quickly & made you feel you were making the right choice. Their sister company Blair Endersby do the IVAs & B&E do Debt Managment Plans. We had our IVA approved very quickly & are now paying 201 per month Over 5 years - but Be Warned: they want 50% of every extra bit of income that you receive. You also pay them a large fee before your starts IVA for them to set it up - there are other companys that dont charge U anything. (CCCS & Payplan)

I woke every morning dreading the Post coming, I never answered the phone, If I did I would pretend to be someone else, Until I rang Bains & Ernst, good advise on how to handle the debts I had, a fast service that delivered exactly what they said it would, . So if your in the situation I was, ring them today and just get your life back.. I now have nobody ringing me asking for money I just dont have. your debts wont magically dissappear, so get your head out of the sand and ring them.. I will be debt free in 5 years and I'm already dealing with 95% less stress. thankyou B&E
