Commenting on Nationwide saying it won't pass on any further cuts in UK interest rates to 250,000 of its tracker mortgage customers, Louise Cuming, head of mortgages at moneysupermarket.com, said: "This demonstrates the chasm between Government rhetoric calling for lenders to pass on all rate cuts and financial reality. In the current climate we need financial stability and that starts with profitability.
Hitting the gym and getting fit and healthy usually tops the list of New Year resolutions, but not this year it seems. Over half of Brits (56 per cent) will be quitting the gym in the New Year to cut costs.

With wholesale energy prices on a downward spiral and the Government issuing harsh warnings to energy providers to treat consumers fairly, moneysupermarket.com predicts prices could fall by 20 per cent in the first quarter of next year.
